Grapes: Caprettone 100% ungrafted vine
The Casa Setaro winery is producing wine since 2005, year of their first vintage. The winery is located in Trecase, a Village on the foot of Vesuvio, extending their vines between the sea and the black volcanic soils. Massimo and MariaRosaria have always believed in the Vesuvian grapes, and produced wines only from that. Very notable is their work toward the “re-discovery” of Caprettone. With their help, in 2014 this autochthonous variety has been recognized as a grape of identity, and not as a clone of Coda di volpe.
The winery also work under organic protocols.
The wine is made from ungrafted vines from the vineyards of “Bosco del Monaco” at 250 meters over sea level in the Vesuvian National Park
The hand-harvested grapes, fermented at controlled temperature for 20 days, mature in stainless steel for 6 months, followed by at least 2 months in bottle.
Pale yellow in colour, the wine is fresh and fruity, with aromas of white flowers and yellow pulp citrus-fruits, and balsamic notes. The palate is savoury and insinuating, with good freshness and persistence
