Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano, Avignonesi, 2019

Grape: 100% Sangiovese

Vino Nobile is one of Italy’s great wines and Avignonesi one of its best representatives. Produced with the Sangiovese grape, or "Prugnolo Gentile", it is grown in vineyards around the town of Montepulciano in southeast Tuscany, not far from the town of Montalcino. So highly this wine was regarded that it acquired the title “Vino Nobile” and the name has, not surprisingly, been retained to the present day!

WINERY

Avignonesi is one of the most traditional winemakers of Italy. It was founded in the late middle ages and bought in 2009 by Virginie Saverys, a member one of the oldest shipping related families in Belgium and one of its senior directors. She has established a significant investment programme, including organic cultivation and buying additional vineyards. the results, as you can imagine, are pretty stunning!

THE WINE

The wine shows garnet red hues, intense aromas of ripe, red berry fruit, such as red plum, pomegranate and red vine peach, sweet spices and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate it is well balanced, with generous pulp, seamless tannins and an endless finish.

The 2015 vintage is... PASSIONATE like the radiant sun that kissed it all the way long... Harmonious wines, warm and charming, on the canvas, the marriage between light and matter. The variable weather conditions of this vintage, with the right timing, enabled Avignonesi to make powerful, yet elegant wines.
